Fun and Engaging Activities For Youth Groups – Designed to Thrill!

Are you looking for something AMAZING to do with the young members of your local community group? Whether it’s Scouts, Brownies and Guides, local youth groups, young military groups, or youth sports clubs, doing something different which will change things up and keep things fun is always a great idea to provide the best possible experience.

The many hundreds of youth groups and organisations in West Sussex provide a fantastic opportunity for young people to connect, build friendships, stay active and learn new skills. And, over the last ten years at Out of Bounds, we have seen a wide range of them come along to take part in fun activities and days out here together.

The activities which are available at our specially reduced rates for youth groups, include Ten Pin Bowling, Clip ‘n Climb, Adventure Nets, Laser Tag, High Ropes & Zip Lines and Adventure Golf. Whatever the weather, youth groups of all sizes can come along and have a blast as many take on challenges for the first time or enhance their skills and all seem to embrace the chance to bond and grow together as a team.

What are the benefits of choosing a physical activity centre for a youth group trip?

We all know that fitness and activity is beneficial for us at any stage of life, but, for youth groups looking for a great day out, there are lots of other great reasons to give this a go:

Team Building – activities such as Adventure Nets and High Ropes can require collaboration. Success will come from members of your youth group working as a team, while enhancing other skills, such as trust building, improved communication and development of problem solving skills.

Engagement and Fun – physical activity is known to provide a fantastic boost to physical and mental health, in addition to helping young people to stay positive, focused and productive. Putting the fun into physical activity also means that the young people in your youth group will be likely to keep up an active lifestyle into their adult years.

Personal Growth – activities that challenge you, such as High Ropes and Zip Lines, bring with them a fantastic sense of achievement once completed. In addition, taking part can help to boost confidence and self-esteem, something which youth groups are always looking to build among their young people.

Safe Environment – most activity centres are built with safety in mind and Out of Bounds is no different. We follow strict safety guidelines in a safe, structured environment and all of our staff are fully trained to completely minimise the risk of accidents occurring.

Diverse Interests – Everyone is different, so taking part in a variety of days out allows youth group members the chance to try experiences which really interest them.

Memorable Experiences – a trip to a physical activity centre such as Out of Bounds, where there are lots of different experiences to try, offers the opportunity to make the sort of positive, memorable experience which should last a lifetime.

Positive Leadership – youth groups often have youth leaders and coming to an activity centre, such as Out of Bounds, will enable them to develop their leadership skills and inspire others.

Active Home Education Events

At Out of Bounds, our mission is to provide an active and fun destination which serves the whole community and is fully inclusive in every possible way. We believe that activities should be accessible for all and that is why, among the many events that we put on throughout the year, we hold a series of sessions which are designed specifically for people who are home educated.

In response to popular demand, our special Home Education active events now take place for children of all ages once a month. This is in addition to the regular discounted weekday term time sessions which allow parents to provide physical education, with an exciting difference.

Activities which are available through the Home Education events and weekly term time sessions at Out of Bounds include, Ten Pin Bowling, Clip ‘N Climb, Soft Play, Adventure Nets, 18-hole Adventure Golf, Jumping Pillows and High Ropes.

There are plenty of activities to choose from at Out of Bounds with many benefits to be had both from a physical and mental health perspective. In addition, parents and children really love the opportunity to come and meet new friends and network with people who are in a similar position.

For this reason, all of our staff members are friendly, fun and welcoming and there are plenty of breakout quiet areas available both indoors and outside for anyone who might become anxious and need a breather. Events aren’t overcrowded, too, so that children have the opportunity to let off plenty of steam without feeling as though they are on top of each other.

Plan the Day’s Schedule

To ensure everything runs smoothly on the day, it’s helpful to plan a schedule in advance. Consider the following:

  • Activity Timings: Plan how long you’ll spend on each activity. For example, you might start with an hour of Clip ‘n Climb, followed by a round of Adventure Golf, and finish with a game of Laser Tag.
  • Food and Cake Time: Decide when you’ll break for food and cake. This could be after the first activity to refuel everyone or as a grand finale to the day’s fun.
  • Wrap-Up and Goodbyes: Allow some time at the end of the party to hand out party bags, take group photos, and say goodbye to your guests.
  •

Is Adventure Golf the Same as Crazy Golf?

Adventure Golf and Crazy Golf are two terms that are often used interchangeably, leading to some confusion about whether they are the same thing or if there are differences between them. Both are popular variations of mini golf, a family-friendly activity that has been enjoyed for generations. But what sets them apart, if anything?

In this blog, we’ll explore the origins, features, and experiences of both Adventure Golf and Crazy Golf to help you understand whether they are indeed the same or if there are distinct differences that set them apart.

The Origins of Mini Golf

To understand the relationship between Adventure Golf and Crazy Golf, it’s essential to start with the origins of mini golf. Miniature golf, often referred to simply as mini golf, originated in the early 20th century as a scaled-down version of traditional golf. It was designed to be a fun and accessible way for people of all ages to enjoy the game without needing the space, time, or skill required for full-sized golf courses.

The earliest forms of mini golf were relatively simple, consisting of short putting courses with basic obstacles. Over time, however, the courses became more elaborate and creative, incorporating a variety of themes, obstacles, and challenges. This evolution gave rise to different variations of mini golf, including Adventure Golf and Crazy Golf.

What is Crazy Golf?

Crazy Golf is one of the oldest and most well-known forms of mini golf. The term “Crazy Golf” is most commonly used in the UK, where it refers to mini golf courses that feature quirky, whimsical obstacles and designs. The primary characteristic of Crazy Golf is the inclusion of fun and often humorous elements that make the game more entertaining and unpredictable.

On a Crazy Golf course, you might encounter windmills with spinning blades, loop-the-loops, ramps, tunnels, and other playful obstacles that challenge players to think creatively about how to get their ball into the hole. The design of Crazy Golf courses often leans towards the eccentric and imaginative, making it a favorite choice for families, children, and casual players looking for a lighthearted and enjoyable experience.

Crazy Golf courses are typically compact, with each hole offering a unique challenge that tests both skill and luck. The emphasis is on fun rather than competition, and the courses are usually designed to be accessible to players of all ages and abilities. The unpredictability of the obstacles adds an element of surprise to the game, making it a memorable and entertaining activity.

What is Adventure Golf?

Adventure Golf, on the other hand, is a more recent development in the world of mini golf. While it shares similarities with Crazy Golf, Adventure Golf tends to be more immersive and themed, often taking inspiration from real-world adventures and exotic locations.

The courses are typically larger and more elaborate, featuring detailed landscapes, water features, and themed environments that transport players to different settings, such as tropical jungles, pirate islands, or ancient ruins.

The key characteristic of Adventure Golf is its focus on creating an experience that goes beyond just putting a ball into a hole. The courses are designed to be visually impressive, with intricate details and realistic elements that enhance the overall atmosphere. For example, an Adventure Golf course might include waterfalls, caves, bridges, and animatronic figures that add to the sense of adventure and exploration.

Adventure Golf courses are often designed to tell a story or take players on a journey through different environments. This narrative element, combined with the physical challenges of the course, makes Adventure Golf a more immersive and engaging experience than traditional mini golf. The emphasis is still on fun, but there is also a greater focus on the overall experience, making Adventure Golf a popular choice for families, groups, and even date nights.

Comparing Adventure Golf and Crazy Golf

While both Adventure Golf and Crazy Golf are variations of mini golf, there are some key differences that set them apart:

Theming and Design:

Crazy Golf: Typically features quirky, whimsical obstacles with a playful and humorous design. The theming is often light-hearted and focuses on creating fun, unpredictable challenges.

Adventure Golf: Emphasises immersive theming and detailed environments. The courses are often designed to transport players to different settings or tell a story, with realistic elements and larger, more elaborate landscapes.

Course Layout:

Crazy Golf: Courses are usually compact, with each hole offering a unique and often eccentric challenge. The focus is on creating varied and entertaining obstacles that are fun to navigate.

Adventure Golf: Courses tend to be larger and more spread out, with multiple holes that take players on a journey through different themed environments. The layout often includes water features, bridges, and other interactive elements.

Experience:

Crazy Golf: The experience is typically casual and playful, with an emphasis on having fun and enjoying the quirky challenges. It’s a great option for families with young children or anyone looking for a light-hearted activity.

Adventure Golf: Offers a more immersive and engaging experience, with a focus on adventure and exploration. The detailed theming and narrative elements make it a more involved and memorable activity, suitable for a wider range of ages and interests.

Audience:

Crazy Golf: Appeals to a broad audience, particularly families with young children and casual players looking for a fun, easy-going activity.

Adventure Golf: Attracts a diverse audience, including families, groups of friends, and couples. The immersive experience and detailed theming also make it popular for special occasions like birthdays or date nights.

Are Adventure Golf and Crazy Golf the Same?

So, are Adventure Golf and Crazy Golf the same? The answer is both yes and no. They are both variations of mini golf and share the same basic premise: putting a ball into a hole through a series of obstacles. However, the way they approach the game and the experience they offer are different.

Crazy Golf is all about fun, quirky challenges and playful designs, making it a great option for casual outings and family fun. Adventure Golf, on the other hand, offers a more immersive and themed experience, taking players on a journey through different environments and creating a sense of adventure.
